Do you know the difference between biodegradable and compostable?
Biodegradable plastics break down into very small particles called microplastics that circulate in the environment and are present in all living organisms. Therefore, the fact that a product is labelled as biodegradable does not always guarantee that it is completely environmentally friendly and does not leave any residue on it. Instead, a compostable product is decomposed into compost (an organic material obtained from the decomposition of organic waste). Compost is a natural fertilizer of excellent quality.
What certificates and standards do STARCHLY bags meet?
The biopolymer used for its manufacture is obtained from corn starch and has the certificates OK compost HOME and OK compost INDUSTRIAL. The bags comply with EN13432 standard, are resistant and decompose into fertilizer in a home composter.
WARNING: Having the OK Compost Home certificate guarantees the compostability of the product at a temperature between 20 and 30ºC for a period of 12 months (conditions for a home composter).
