VeggieAnimals plus for cats is formulated by a team of professional veterinary nutritionists who listened to us when we talked about a 100% vegetable feed with the best quality in terms of nutrients. What proteins does VeggieAnimals plus for cats contain? 

Proteins derived mainly from maize, peas, yeast, wheat and rice. They are extracted, concentrated and prepared so that they can be assimilated and digested.

What about taurine?

At VeggieAnimals we take care of every detail, we study and analyse each of the nutritional needs of cats, but all this with taurine was already solved when we arrived. Animal feeds already added taurine to their product because this amino acid was not in the right quantities due to processing, and on top of that this supplement was synthesised in a laboratory and was already vegan.

What other nutrients does VeggieAnimals contain? Because it's not just protein that nourishes us.

FATS.

Fats are made up of fatty acids and perform vital functions such as storing energy, serving as a structure for the production of hormones and other substances, and facilitating the transport and absorption of various vitamins such as fat-soluble vitamins A, D and E. Fats are also important for maintaining healthy hair and skin.

Fats also help to make food more palatable, and are easily digestible.  

Are you familiar with arachidonic acid?

Well, as with taurine, there is a fatty acid that is very important in cats and although its presence is not usually taken into account, we add it. Arachidonic acid is an essential fatty acid, and we add it from a 100% vegetable source.

CARBOHYDRATES.

Carbohydrates provide cells with quick energy. Within carbohydrates are simpler molecules such as sugars. When sugars are put together we find more complex carbohydrates such as starches and dietary fibres.

Sugars and starches are called digestible carbohydrates and provide energy. Fibre, while not digestible, improves the digestive health of our companions.

But aren't carbohydrates bad?

Despite the grain free fad and the demonisation of cereals and carbohydrates, the reality is that cats can digest and benefit from the consumption of carbohydrates, providing them with energy to give them vitality and fibre to help their digestive system and transit. 

Dietary fibre is essential for digestive health. Soluble fibres stimulate salivation, attract water and become gelatinous, helping the digestive contents to advance, and thanks to their bacterial fermentation, they help to regulate the rhythm of bowel movements. Low-fermentable or insoluble fibres increase stool bulk and aid digestive transit.

VITAMINS.

Vitamins are essential for the correct functioning of the organism, as they help in the assimilation of other nutrients and their repair. 

There are fat-soluble vitamins (A, D, E and K) and water-soluble vitamins (all the others). Fat-soluble vitamins are stored in the liver and are not easily eliminated. While water-soluble vitamins do not pose a risk of overdose as the excess is excreted in the urine, it is still important to have an optimal intake of each of these vitamins.

Do cats need to take vitamin B12?

Well, B12 and a few others, but don't worry, although there are other essential vitamins in cats, such as vitamin B3 and vitamin A, you don't have to give them in a daily or weekly pill, because at VeggieAnimals we take everything into account and they are already in our recipe.

MINERALS.

Minerals are also essential nutrients. Macro minerals such as calcium, phosphorus, magnesium, sodium and potassium should be present in the food, and trace minerals such as iron, copper, zinc, manganese, cobalt, iodine, selenium and fluoride should be present in smaller amounts.

Does VeggieAnimals cause urinary problems?

The answer is obviously no, as these occur when the food has an imbalance of nutrients, mainly minerals, but also the formation of crystals occurs when the urinary pH is not adequate, which is why VeggieAnimals adds methionine, an amino acid that allows us to have an optimum urinary pH, thus avoiding the formation of crystals.
